What is Microblading?
Microblading is a semi-permanent brow procedure that is performed by a qualified technician using a specialized hand-tool, which holds tiny disposable microblades. Microblading is an extremely meticulous process in which pigment strokes are manual made into the skin, to look just like real eyebrow hairs. This procedure is semi-permanent in nature and can last 1-3 years depending on skin type, sun exposure, and health.
It differs from conventional brow feathering by the very fact that it is a manual procedure and not done using a machine. When using a hand held micro blade, the colour is deposited closer to the skin surface than when a machine is used, allowing for very fine and crisp hair strokes with no spilling under the skin. The end result is very natural looking eyebrows.
Microblading is perfect for those who want to fully reconstruct their brows or for those just trying to keep their brow game on point by defining, covering gaps, adding a slight arch or filling-in over plucked brows. Imagine waking up to perfect brows everyday without having to worry about filling in, smudging, smearing or disappearing.
How does the microblading procedure go?
First we have a detailed consultation in which we discuss exactly what each client is looking to achieve. We match the pigment to each client’s natural brow hair and test the shades against skin tone first. Before a microblade is even picked up, we customize shape, size, and hair pattern with a pencil to ensure the client is completely satisfied. Before the microblading begins, a topical numbing cream is applied to the area to minimize discomfort. Don’t be worried about the process being painful, some clients may feel a slight discomfort, but it’s relatively painless. Then the super precise microblading procedure begins and takes around 2 hours to complete.
Why does this procedure last longer on some and not on others?
The years or permanency of a “semi-permanent” cosmetic procedure are different for every individual. There are many factors that contribute to a successful procedure. First, we have to factor in, UVA and UVB exposure. The more time you spend in the sunshine, the less time the procedure will last. Secondly, which products are used on the face? Certain cosmetic products (face washes, moisturizers, sunscreen, toners, creams, foundations, make-up etc…) will affect the longevity of your pigment. Moreover, proper colour selection, viscosity of the pigment, the client’s skin thickness, needle/microblade selection, insertion depth, the client’s health and how many passes the technician inserts into the skin (building colour volume) will also play a role.
Why Do We Use Semi Permanent Pigments?
As we age, our skin loses elasticity and collagen and our eyebrows ‘sag’. The pigments used in semi-permanent make-up will fade over time. This is a good thing because faces change over the years and so do brow styles, so you should be glad to not be stuck with the same brow.
We would like our clients to be able to maintain their beautiful new eyebrows and that means affordable touch ups. Microblading is considered semi-permanent and lasts up to 12-24 months depending on each individual’s skin type. Because we’re introducing pigment so close to the surface of the skin, regular touch ups are recommended every 6 -12 months to maintain the crisp hair strokes and the colour fresh. This, of course varies greatly from individual to individual so our touch up prices allows you to have it done as often or as little as you like.
If you had your procedure done somewhere else and need it touched up, it is considered a correction not a touch-up, therefore a consultation is required for proper price assessment.
