What is permanent makeup?
Permanent Makeup is a semi-permanent brow procedure that is performed by a certified brow artist. Permanent makeup is an extremely meticulous process in which pigment strokes are made to look just like real eyebrow hairs. This procedure is semi-permanent in nature and can last 1-3 years depending on skin type, sun exposure, and health.
Permanent Makeup is perfect for those who want to fully reconstruct their brows or for those just trying to keep their brow game on point by defining, covering gaps, adding a slight arch or filling-in over tweezed brows. Imagine waking up to perfect brows everyday without having to worry about filling in, smudging, smearing or disappearing.
We offer complimentary consultation prior to the appointment, in which we discuss exactly what each client is looking to achieve. We match the pigment to each client’s natural brow hair and test the shades against skin tone. Before the procedure begins, a topical numbing cream is applied to the area to minimize discomfort. Then the super precise procedure begins and takes around 2 hours to complete.
Why does this procedure last longer on some and not on others?
The years or permanency of a “semi-permanent” cosmetic procedure are different for every individual. There are many factors that contribute to a successful procedure. First, we have to factor in UVA and UVB exposure. The more time you spend in the sunshine, the less time the procedure will last. Secondly, which products are used on the face? Certain products (face washes, moisturizers, sunscreen, toners, creams, foundations, makeup etc.) will affect the longevity of your pigment. Moreover, proper colour selection, viscosity of the pigment, the client’s skin thickness, insertion depth, the client’s health and how many passes the technician inserts into the skin (building colour volume) will also play a role.
Why Do We Use Semi Permanent Pigments?
As we age, our skin loses elasticity and collagen and our eyebrows ‘sag’. The pigments used in semi-permanent makeup will fade over time. This is a good thing because faces change over the years and so do brow styles. Regular touch-ups are recommended every 6 -12 months to maintain the crisp hair strokes and the colour fresh. This, of course varies greatly from individual to individual.
